Reflecting on Individual Progress

This has been a fun and challenging semester of learning how to create and design learning games. I would say that I struggled the most on making the games educational without making them too complicated. It felt like I was constantly second guessing every idea I had and every idea I came up with was very complicated in practice. I guess I want to learn more about how to condense topics down and make them less complicated. That way the game can be a fun experience while also learning a lot I enjoyed learning everything. It made see other games that I have played before in a whole new light. I was constantly saying t myself, "Wow, I never thought about it like that." I would say I learned to be more creative and have a better understanding of how to incorporate learning into gaming. I would say my patience was tested throughout this course with all the projects we had to create. It definitely improved and I realized how making games take time and patience. I want to keep maki...

Reflecting on Digital Design Process

This project has been challenging. Strangely enough, creating the game and editing everything isn't the challenging part. Trying to explain the game is what is challenging. Obviously for the project we have to write out our game design to convey our ideas. When I was writing, I felt stumped. Every time I try to explain something in a sentence, another question in my head pops up. I feel like my project idea might be too complicated for this assignment. However, I can't really switch now and I don't want to because I'm passionate about it. I just wish I could do a better job of explaining what I am trying to achieve with this project. That was my biggest hurdle. The game I am making is called Immune Defense Force. It is a tower defense style game where the player assumes the role of the immune system and they have to fight off diseases. There is a bit more to it but that is my digital game idea in a nutshell. I plan to use a template because attempting to build this from...
